Thanks to our friends at XL96 Country, the generosity of our vendors and tons of hard work and planning, the MHB team got to experience the thrill of a lifetime last Saturday. This thrill? Giving away a Martell Home- free and clear- to John Baxter & his family, of Lower Coverdale, NB. Not to mention also pulling off the largest radio giveaway ever, east of Calgary!
Months ago, the idea was born. It all started with a bet between morning hosts Scotty Horsman & Tony Smith… could Tony quit bacon for a week? They called it #bacation. Tension ran deep and stakes were high… things seemed to be getting out of hand when Tony bet his new (under-construction) Martell Home. Imagine his surprise when he lost the bet! Some said he was set up but rules are rules and he did consume the bacon.
Construction continued and the MHB team could not believe what legs this contest had developed. Everywhere we went, people were talking about the home giveaway… including the drive-thru girls at Tim’s. People were ecstatic and the contest was the talk of the town…
Fast forward to Saturday, October 26, 2013. Eligible contestants had been narrowed down to 46 people and they all stood patiently in line, waiting for their chance to insert their key into the door of 35 Holland and see if they had the only key that would open the lock. They approached the door one-by-one and the suspense was ridiculous.
And finally, John Baxter and his granddaughter approached the house with Key #17. And well, you should probably watch it for yourself:
To everyone who helped make this promotion a reality, THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts. This was truly the highlight of our year (or more) and we are so grateful that we were able to be a part of this. To the Baxters, we hope you enjoy the home as much as we loved building it!
Looks like it’s time to make room on our AHW Wall of Fame.
Last Saturday morning, each member of the MHB team was doing their respective happy dance as we received an email letting us know that we’ve won the Atlantic Home Warranty Customer Choice Award! This is our third time receiving this honor- an achievement that we do not take lightly.
Atlantic Home Warranty is a third-party warranty organization providing protection for new homebuyers, as well as the confidence they need in home builders. The company is based in Halifax, with representatives in all four Atlantic provinces.
Each year, AHW surveys new homeowners in the following way:
The survey consists of 26 questions that deal with the homeowners’ experience with their Builder in all aspects of the purchase of their new home. This includes the Builders’ sales staff or their realtor, office and construction staff, as well as the Builders’ after sales service. The last question on the survey asks the homeowner if they will recommend their Builder to their family and friends who are thinking of purchasing a new home. (Source: http://ahwp.org/homeowners/customer-choice-awards/)
What really gets us about receiving this award? Our clients made this happen. Obviously, we LOVE our clients… but it’s pretty cool to know just how much they love us back.
To our clients: THANK YOU! Thank you for choosing us to build your home, for joining our family, for making every day AWESOME. You’re why we do this.
One of the most frequent questions that I get asked through our Contact Us page is whether we build in a particular geographic area. While we are working very hard to take over the World (Mouhahahaha), we are currently expanding at a good rate and keeping operations focused in New Brunswick for 2013.
So, where do we build? Check out our list of MHB locations:
1. Greater Moncton
Moncton, World Headquarters for Martell Home Builders, is where we set roots and first established ourselves. We build in all of the Greater Moncton Area including Dieppe and Riverview. Because Moncton is our most established location, we’ve been able to diversify into Lease-2-Buy properties and reselling through our sister company Martell Realty. Moncton Fun Fact: In 2008, Readers’ Digest dubbed Moncton “Canada’s most polite & honest city.”
2012 marked our third building season in Miramichi. We really enjoy working with the local trades & people in the Miramichi area and providing them with the Martell Experience. Miramichi Fun Fact: In 2010, Miramichi was named the world’s first Smart Technologies Showcase Community for use of Smartboards in schools & businesses.
3. Saint John
Saint John is a market that we’ve been working for three seasons as well. We’ve been active building custom homes in the Greater Saint John Area and we love working with our awesome team of established local trades. Saint John Fun Fact: Saint John boasts the largest public transit system in the Province.
Just a skip down the highway, the picturesque community of Sussex is growing. Increasingly popular with the retiree crowd, we think that Sussex is the perfect market for our bungalow semi-detached homes which offer one-story living at a value price point. Sussex Fun Fact: Sussex is the “Mural Capital Of Atlantic Canada”.
2013 will mark our expansion into the Fredericton market and we couldn’t be more excited! Fredericton is a such a great city with an active lifestyle. In fact, we are actually hiring a new Location Manager for this market place. Check out the job positing here. Fredericton Fun Fact: The notorious Benedict Arnold once lived in Fredericton.
Yup, you read it right, we love our customers and our 2012 Customer Appreciation Day on August 18th was one opportunity to show that! Over 150 members of our Martell Homes family showed up to celebrate another fantastic year with us which made it our biggest CAD to date. At this year’s event we enjoyed a rock climbing wall, dunk tank, magician, Jared Lutes Band, and bouncy castle which means that there was something for everyone! We also celebrated our customers by giving away thousands of door prizes from local vendors (prizes included lawn mowers and bbqs !).You can check out all of the pictures of our day on SmugMug or our Facebook Page
At the Customer Appreciation Day we also had an opportunity to fundraise for two causes close to our hearts: the Riverview Boys and Girls Club and the CIBC Run for the Cure. While selling tickets (50/50 and dream cottage) might seem a little “stale”, Pierre and Bruno certainly put the “FUN” back in fundraising by sitting in the dunktank and raffling off tickets for the first throw!
We had so much fun at this year’s Customer Appreciation Day and we hope that you did too! What was your favorite part?
We’re SO excited to introduce to you the newest member of the Martell team… Zia Martell!
Zia was born to Pierre and Jess on July 27th at 8:08 pm. Pierre laughs when he talks about the day Zia was born. He and Jess both being entrepreneurs, after realizing that the baby was on her way they both continued working from home (and during their visits to the hospital) not letting a little thing like emerging life get in their way Jess did payroll and Pierre worked on building beautiful custom homes for people! Even better, they downloaded an app to track contractions while they waited! (I honestly didn’t even know that there was one!).
Jess working on her way to the hospital
When it comes to being an entrepreneur and a father Pierre describes it as… “a walk in the park”! Contrary to the way some dads are thrown into fatherhood, to Pierre it’s in some ways like he’s being training for it his whole life. Both he and Jess are used to having to perform on little sleep because of the work it takes to close deals and generally manage a business. Staying up late at night for a baby is just part of the routine! (I think we’re all wishing we had had it that easy hah)
The hardest part about being a dad, Pierre says, is not being home to be a dad. While he still is lucky enough to be able to work from home more than many other people, Pierre still hold that the absolute best part of his day is getting to go home to his little girl.
Hope you’ve enjoyed your first introduction to little Zia and we’re sure you’ll be seeing more of the little princess!
It’s hard to believe that you can get a hamburger at a Tim Hortons but at the Tim on Mountain Rd, Moncton that is EXACTLY what you’ll find! We’ve discovered that the store has been chosen to test market this new product to see if it peek customer’s attention and interest! Though it may look like a hamburger, this treat is made up of a regular donut cut in two ( the buns), a sliver of chocolate donut (the ‘meat’), and strawberry and boston cream filling (the ketchup and mustard respectively).
We encourage you to get out and try this treat before they’re gone!
Do you think the hamburger donut will be a hit? Will you be trying it?
Note: to maintain our journalistic integrity we tried them… they were delicious
There’s going to be yet another (caffeinated) reason to live in Moncton’s fast growing North End… Startbucks. That’s right coffee lovers, soon we’ll be visited by the lady in green with hipsters and business people alike flooding the area to get to Moncton’s first Starbucks (with the other two being in the far away land of Dieppe). What’s even better? It’s less than 5 minutes away from our office!
You’ll remember that it was March that we introduced you to the Moncton-brewed Jitter Bean Cafe. It would seem that as each month passes, the competition for the hearts and caffeine addictions of North-enders grows with Second Cup going up in the fall and now Starbucks. All three of these great cafes (and a mandatory Tim’s) are located within a 2 minute drive down Mountain Rd!
Though the opening date isn’t clear, here at Martell Homes we’re excited to be both a spectator and a contributor to the growth of the North end. With the perfect blend of activity and oasis, it’s the place to be!
