Fave Five Pins This Week

Ahh, summer….

Days are longer, sun is shining and, well, people are -spending- (err, wasting?) less time browsing social networks.  And while spending time with actual people is much more important than flipping through house photos online, we know you’re wondering if you’re missing some hot new idea on Pinterest.  Have no fear… I’ve got your back.  I’ve rounded up my 5 favorite Pins from this week.  Check them out!

1. Gorgeous Space-Saving Kitchen

We’re gaga over this space.  The white cabinets are crisp and elegant while the floors have a rustic/organic feel… and all of that storage!

2. Backyard Bliss

Go ahead… leave your lights up year round!  This space is beyond magical.

3. Sophisticated wall treatment.

What’s not to love about this stunning wall treatment?  The gloss on matte effect is understated yet dramatic.  Here’s hoping we get to try this effect in one of our client’s homes very soon!

4. The Perfect Grout Color! Finally…

I’m generally good at choosing colors & finishes but grout color ALWAYS stumps me! That is, it used to stump me…. Thank you Pinterest!

5. Construction Party!

Not design related, but completely adorable and absolutely necessary.

What do you think?  Did you see anything on Pinterest this week that is a must see??  Send it my way! I love a great Pin.

Colour Palette of the Month: June

With lawns filling up with bright green blades of grass and patches of sunny dandelions, it’s clear that June is here! This month may be known for those nasty bugs, but this colour palette highlights fresh, saturated shades!

Sunshine and milder temperatures, make June an ideal time of year to add some charm to your exterior. If you’re not blessed with a green thumb, why not paint your patio door green?

Adding a bold accent to a fairly muted room really adds some cheer, but I tend to shy away from overlapping bold shades. However, there are always exceptions! I am totally in love with this bright and beautiful family room! The coloured silhouettes on this bold yellow wall with stand out end tables are so unique! The white accents keep the room from looking chaotic.

This modern kitchen uses fresh lime countertops with yellow woods to create an airy, happy kitchen! This seems like the perfect backdrop to a glass of OJ and eggs sunny side up!

A more muted shade of yellow looks great for a nursery! This keeps the room calm, without looking dull. As the kids get older brighter bolder shades and pattern add more energy to a bedroom, making a more enjoyable space for sleepovers and playtime. Finally, a painted bed frame looks awesome in a teen room–though I think the style is easily adapted for anyone!

Lastly, I love the spash of sunshine in the bathroom! A sunflower yellow looks unbelievably nice as a backsplash, but a quick easy update can be made by spray painting an antique mirror a glossy daffodil hue!

What do you guys think? Would you colour your interior with shades inspired by a fresh lawn?

Design Inspiration: Flooring

Brown, blue, or brick, it matters what your floors look like. Keeping your home looking fresh, modern, inviting, and clean can have a lot to do with what floorings you choose. No matter if your designing your new martell dream home or just spicing up your old one, choosing the right flooring is key.

Before choosing what type of flooring you should get, first you need to identify a feel or theme that you’re going for in the home as a whole and for the individual spaces (rustic, modern, country, etc). After you’ve chosen a theme or feel then it’s time to choose a type of flooring, will it be hardwood? Tile? Ceramic?

If you’re having a hard time choosing (and we know what a hard choice it can be!), we’ve pulled together a some images showing the different styles, themes, and types of flooring that you could be using in your home! We hope it gives you the inspiration your looking for and if you want more, check us out on Pinterest!
